Named after the Afghan camel drivers who once plied its route, The Ghan takes you on a journey through the heart of Australia, running through the outback, from the tropical greenery of the Top End to genteel Adelaide. Travelling south from Darwin a stop in Katherine allows you to explore the dramatic scenery of Nitmiluk Canyon before you reach Alice Springs where Uluru and the Olgas lie in wait. Whether you end your journey here or continue south past the jagged MacDonnell and Flinders Ranges to the charming city of Adelaide, a journey on The Ghan is never to be forgotten.

GOLD SERVICE ON THE GHAN

Gold Service recalls the elegance and romance of rail's golden age. From the moment you step aboard every detail is looked after. Meals are included and are served in beautifully decorated restaurant cars where you'll sample fine food prepared by onboard chefs. After dinner relax in the cosy Gold Service Lounge, the perfect spot to enjoy the company of your fellow travellers. Each comfortable cabin converts to sleeping berths, and your journey will be smoothed by service from your attendant including fresh sheets, bath towels, pillows, quilts and complimentary toiletries.

NEW PLATINUM SERVICE ON THE GHAN - Starting 10 September 08

Luxurious cabins twice the size of Gold Service, full en suite bathrooms and superlative service - Platinum Service brings a new level of romanticism and style to The Legendary Ghan. Platinum Cabins offer a unique blend of classic style with modern comfort and amenities presented in a distinctly Australian character. The Desert Explorer Lounge provides the atmosphere to meet fellow travellers while dining in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant is the perfect end to the day. With room for just 48 guests, it's sure to be popular so book well in advance for the rail experience of a lifetime. The Ghan Platinum Service is available one day per week, departing Adelaide on a Wednesday and Darwin on a Saturday between 10 September - 15 November '08 & 4 March - 14 November '09
